FERC Application Process

On November 1, 2007, Steckman Ridge filed an application with FERC seeking authorization to convert, install, construct, own, operate and maintain natural gas storage facilities.

FERC has docketed the proposal as CP08-15-000, and, on November 28, issued a Notice of Application (pdf, 39 KB) for the project.

Proposed facilities include a compressor station, 23 storage wells and a storage field pipeline network consisting of approximately 7.34 miles of 16-inch diameter trunk line pipelines and approximately 3.54 miles of 6-inch and 8-inch diameter well lateral pipelines.

Informational copies of the application and related resource reports are on file at:

  • Everett Free Library, 137 East Main Street, in Everett, Penn.
  • Bedford County Library, 240 South Wood Street in Bedford, Penn.
  • Monroe Township Office, 247 Rock Hill Church Road in Clearville, Penn.

Steckman Ridge encourages everyone interested in the project to participate in the FERC review process. Any comments concerning the facilities proposed by Steckman Ridge are welcome and should be directed to the FERC.

Formal intervener status may be obtained by filing a motion for intervention with the FERC. As an intervener, you will receive copies of all correspondence filed in this proceeding and will be required to serve all the other intervening parities with correspondence you intend to file.

All comments and motions should reference “Steckman Ridge, LP, Docket No. CP08-15-000” and should be sent to the following address:

Kimberly D. Bose, Secretary
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
888 First Street, N.E.
Washington, D.C. 20426

Alternatively, you may electronically submit your request for intervener status or comments by efiling through FERC Online at www.ferc.gov.

Steckman Ridge would appreciate a copy of any comments submitted to the FERC in order to more effectively consider all concerns in a timely manner.

During the pre-application and post-application periods, FERC is conducting a thorough review of the project, evaluating the need for the facilities, the locations for the proposed compressor station and storage field pipeline network, and the environmental impact of the project.

Additional information on the FERC process can be found by reading FERC's An Interstate Natural Gas Facility on My Land? What Do I Need to Know? (pdf, 2.58 MB)

Throughout this process, Steckman Ridge has been and will continue to seek input from landowners, government agencies and interested parties, and work with them to identify issues related to the proposed facilities.

All stakeholders are encouraged to contact Steckman Ridge directly to discuss their concerns about the project. Landowners and the public may contact us on the Landowner Hotline at 1-877-379-0338.
