Islander East is a 50-mile-long pipeline that will bring much-needed natural gas to Long Island. In addition, the project will add new infrastructure in Connecticut and serve projected demand in this region.
A collaboration between Spectra Energy and KeySpan Energy, Islander East is expected to provide 260 million cubic feet a day initially of cleaner-burning natural gas to Connecticut, Long Island and New York City. That’s enough fuel to cool and heat 600,000 homes.
The pipeline is expected to be in service in late 2010. See the Islander East Web site for more information.
