Our Community Involvement
We enthusiastically get involved in supporting our communities and employees. Our Helping Hands in Action, United Way campaign and Scholars Program are examples of active participation.
Community Programs
- Volunteerism
- We value our employees’ active participation in their local communities and recognize that their time and talents enhance the communities where they live and work. Volunteer projects are encouraged throughout the year, as well as during Spectra Energy’s annual month-long volunteer effort-Helping Hands in Action.
- Volunteer Grants
- Spectra Energy encourages civic volunteerism by providing funding for "sweat equity" volunteer projects performed by employees and retires. We are also proud to make volunteer grants to eligible, charitable, organizations on behalf of employee volunteer who serves on and organization's board or leadership committee.
- United Way
- We are proud to provide a dollar-for-dollar corporate match for our employees’ contributions to our annual United Way campaign. This match serves as Spectra Energy’s support of health and human service organizations in our communities and recognizes the generosity of our employees to the company campaign.
Employee Programs
- Matching Gifts Program
- We are also pleased to support the generosity and community involvement of employees and retirees by offering the Spectra Energy Matching Gifts Program, which provides matching funds to the qualified charitable organizations employees and retirees personally support.

- The Spectra Energy Scholars Program provides college scholarships for qualifying high school senior dependents of our employees and retirees. We value education at all levels and believe it makes good business sense to support the educational endeavors of our own children.
