Spectra Energy Selects 2008 Scholarship Recipients
Ten students to receive up to $20,000 during four consecutive years of undergraduate studies in United States or Canada
HOUSTON – Spectra Energy (NYSE: SE) today announced ten children of company employees have been selected to receive up to $5,000 per year in scholarship funds toward undergraduate study at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
Scholarship recipients are chosen annually by an independent committee of judges and must be graduating high school/secondary school seniors. The committee reviews and selects applicants based on their performance in academics, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors and awards, work experience and financial need. The scholarships will provide the students up to $20,000 during their four years of undergraduate study.

Fowler, Spectra Energy president and chief executive officer. “Secondary education is critically important, and we’re particularly pleased to help the next generation of the Spectra Energy family prepare for the challenges of the future.”
Two other students were recognized for their achievements and will each receive a one-time $2,500 scholarship.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS:
Wade Babula of Petrolia, Ontario—A student at Lambton Central School in Petrolia, and the son of Todd and Darlene Babula.
Morgan Branch of Ft. St. John, British Columbia—A student at North Peace Secondary School in Ft. St. John, and the daughter of Mitch and Caron Branch.
Adeel Faruki of Houston, Texas—A student at Clear Brook High School, and the son of Sam and Sabiha Faruki.
Courtney Gill of Tompkinsville, Kentucky—A student at Monroe County High School in Tompkinsville, and the daughter of Tim and Virginia Gill.
Danielle Montgomery of Chatham, Ontario—A student at Chatham-Kent Secondary School, and the daughter of Dave and Jacquie Montgomery.
Kaitlin Montgomery of Chatham, Ontario—A student at Chatham-Kent Secondary School, and the daughter of Dave and Jacquie Montgomery.
Kathleen Slot of Burnaby, British Columbia—A student at Fraser Valley Christian High School in Surrey, and the daughter of Rens and Elizabeth Slot.
Heather Topple of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia—A student at Cole Harbour District High School, and the daughter of David and Sherri Topple.
Robyn Whitwham of Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia—A student at Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford, Nova Scotia, and the daughter of Rob and Evie Whitwham.
Jordan Wilkinson of Crab Orchard, Kentucky—A student at Lincoln County High School, and the son of Michael and Rita Goodwin.
ONE TIME RECIPIENTS:
Jacob Hupp of Summerfield, Ohio—A student at Shenandoah High School, and the son of Joe and Davina Hupp.
Courtney McLachlan of Westford, Massachusetts—A student at Westford Academy, and the daughter of Gus and Susan McLachlan.
