Spectra Energy Kicks Off United Way Campaign in U.S. and Canada
HOUSTON – Spectra Energy has kicked off its first United Way campaign as a new company with fundraising efforts throughout the U.S and Canada. The company will match employee and retiree contributions, dollar-for-dollar, doubling the generosity of personal giving.
“We firmly believe that the most valuable resource in responding to community needs is our people,” said Martha Wyrsch, Spectra Energy Transmission president and CEO and this year’s executive sponsor of the campaign. “We are delighted to continue our company’s rich history of partnering with the United Way and look forward to making a difference in communities across North America.”
Spectra Energy’s offices throughout the U.S. and Canada will participate in the United Way campaign through donations, sponsorships and fundraising events, including:
- In Houston, Spectra Energy is sponsoring a city-wide campaign by donating $100,000 to the charity.
- The Spectra Energy Transmission-West campaign in Western Canada touches more than 25 locations across four provinces contributing to stronger, more resilient communities.
- The campaign at Union Gas, based in Chatham, Ontario, supports more than two dozen United Ways and hundreds of member agencies whose much needed services improve the lives of people in communities throughout Ontario.
- Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline sponsors Hockey Night in Halifax, a leadership giving reception in Halifax, Nova Scotia, featuring the Halifax Mooseheads and fundraising efforts.
