Spectra Energy

Political Involvement and Contributions

Spectra Energy participates in the democratic process in the jurisdictions in which we conduct business. We do so while adhering to the letter and spirit of all applicable laws in Canada and the U.S.

To ensure that our political involvement is ethical and transparent, our Code of Business Ethics includes an anti-corruption and bribery policy and we publicly disclose contribution information for Spectra-DCP PAC, a voluntary, employee-driven, and non-partisan political action committee. In 2009 through the Spectra-DCP PAC, eligible employees of Spectra Energy and DCP Midstream and its subsidiaries and affiliates made $160,936 of contributions to organizations and the campaigns of candidates for federal and state office in the U.S.

We also periodically contribute to organizations and the campaigns of state or provincial level candidates in the U.S. and Canada. No contributions were made by Spectra Energy or its subsidiaries or affiliates at the federal level in the U.S. or Canada.

We also support organizations that research Canadian and U.S. policy issues and that promote informed discussions on issues relevant to the business community and to our operations.
