We are committed to building and maintaining sustainable, long-term relationships with Aboriginal people that are based on mutual respect and understanding.

We recognize the unique cultural and historical characteristics of Aboriginal people and strive to create relationships with Aboriginal groups, businesses and communities that are mutually beneficial.

To build strong relationships with Aboriginal communities in our operating areas, we focus on four key areas:

Education and Training: We support education and training programs that build capacity and enhance the ability of communities to do business with business.

Employment and Business Opportunities: We are committed to increasing the quantity and quality of Aboriginal participation in our workforce, both through full-time employment and contracting opportunities.

Community Development: We work with communities to identify and support special projects and events. Every year, Spectra Energy employees coordinate, participate and/or support several community events, career fairs and community gatherings.

Communication and Consultation: We work hard to build relationships with the Aboriginal communities in the areas in which we operate. We work with communities and organizations to maintain ongoing communication and to share information, concerns and ideas.
