Construction began in June, 2015 and is on schedule for completion for a target in-service date of November 1, 2016. Algonquin has developed a Marine Boating Coordination and Safety Plan (Boating Plan) with input provided by the United States Coast Guard, the Beverly and Salem Harbormasters, and other stakeholders for the construction of the marine portion of its Salem Lateral Project in Beverly Harbor.
In accordance with the Boating Plan, lighted marker buoys will be installed to establish a Marine Exclusion Zone and the Salem and Beverly Harbormasters will be patrolling the perimeter of the work area in Beverly Harbor on a 24-hour basis, 7 days a week, until the in-water portion of the Project is completed in mid to late December 2015. Algonquin’s in-water construction activity will generally take place from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
For information related to vessel movements and boating related matters, please contact the Beverly or Salem Harbormasters’ Offices. In addition, boaters are encouraged to monitor channel 16 for updates on in-water construction activity and vessel movements in and out of the work area.
