Union Gas Announces Binding Open Season for Transportation Services

July 29, 2008

CHATHAM, Ontario – Beginning today, Union Gas Limited will be conducting a binding transportation open season for Dawn-to-Parkway service, effective November 1, 2010. In addition, shippers will be able to bid on F24-T Service, which provides firm, all day access to transportation quantities on 13 nomination windows.

In response to growing demand, Union Gas hopes to expand its existing facilities to create between 200,000 and 500,000 gigajoule per day (GJ/day) of additional transportation capacity from the Dawn Hub to downstream interconnections at Parkway and Kirkwall. Such an expansion would require approval by the company’s board of directors based on an assessment of the investment climate in Ontario. A key element of that assessment will be the Ontario Energy Board’s upcoming decision on the company’s appeal of long-term revenue sharing.

The Dawn Hub continues to grow and is recognized as a major supply and trading hub offering customers diversity of supply and access to premium storage and transportation services,” said Steve Baker, vice-president, business development, Union Gas. “As a result of this expansion, our customers in Ontario, Quebec, and the northeastern U.S. would have more ability to transport gas supplies from the Dawn Hub to their market areas.”

Transportation Open Season

Shippers seeking to transport natural gas on the Union Gas Dawn-Parkway system are encouraged to participate in the transportation open season. Shippers may bid on firm transportation from the Dawn Hub to either Parkway or Kirkwall in order to reach growing markets in Ontario, Quebec, and the northeastern U.S. In addition, shippers with multiple or short notice changes to gas supply or transportation requirements have the opportunity to bid on Union Gas’ F24-T Service, which provides firm, all day access to transportation quantities on 13 nomination windows. Existing M12 transportation contract holders may also bid on F24-T Service; no additional transportation capacity is required.
