Spectra Energy Places South Peace Pipeline Into Service

November 10, 2009

Expansion Project Helps Meet Growing Demand for Gathering and Processing Capacity in Northeast British Columbia’s Montney/Doig/Cadomin Plays

CALGARY, Alberta – Spectra Energy’s 95 kilometre South Peace Pipeline, which extends Spectra Energy’s existing raw gas gathering system in the rapidly developing Montney/Doig/Cadomin plays in northeast British Columbia (B.C.), has been successfully placed into service.

“The South Peace Pipeline project represents an important part of Spectra Energy’s significant expansion activities designed to meet the needs and timing of area producers and downstream customers,” said Duane Rae, vice president, Field Services, Spectra Energy Transmission West. “This pipeline, which has a capacity in excess of 220 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d), provides Montney producers in the emerging South Peace region with access to our vast Fort St. John area infrastructure, including our McMahon gas processing plant.”

“Over the past two years we have also completed a turnaround of our processing facilities at the plant, which is now capable of operating at its full design capacity of 740 MMcf/d,” said Rae.

Building on more than five decades of experience, resources and assets in northeast B.C., Spectra Energy is growing its infrastructure in some of the most promising new unconventional developments to move natural gas safely, efficiently and responsibly to market.

Spectra Energy Corp (NYSE: SE), a FORTUNE 500 company, is one of North America’s premier natural gas infrastructure companies serving three key links in the natural gas value chain: gathering and processing, transmission and storage, and distribution.
