Spectra Energy Employees Focus on Giving Back to the Community

April 2, 2007

Month-Long “Helping Hands in Action” Event Scheduled for April

HOUSTON – Spectra Energy’s first “Helping Hands in Action” event kicks off today. The month-long event provides Spectra Energy employees and retirees an opportunity to give back to their local communities through various volunteer projects.

Spectra Energy employees and retirees will participate in numerous volunteer projects that range from the restoration of coastal beach grass, assisting at a school during Family Literacy Night, and partnering with one of the company’s key customers in Boston to assist with food sorting at the Greater Boston Food Bank.

In Houston, volunteer projects will include a blood drive for the Gulf Coast Blood Center, assembling mailings to support Theater Under the Stars and the Collaborative for Children, as well as working with Rebuilding Together Houston to perform home repairs on an elderly low income Houstonian’s home.

“Commitment to our communities is one of the hallmarks of Spectra Energy,” said Spectra Energy President and Chief Executive Officer, Fred Fowler. “We back up that commitment with financial support to numerous community organizations and by rolling up our sleeves and getting personally involved as volunteers in communities where we live and work.”
