Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity is Built into Spectra Energy

Diversity is built into the Spectra Energy community and extends beyond our offices and facilities. It's in our neighborhoods and towns. It's in the way we live and do business. We build relationships that value diversity and inclusion. We foster a working atmosphere that opens minds and offers opportunities to our fully engaged and high-performing team.

At Spectra Energy, you will find networking, mentoring and growth opportunities through voluntary employee groups such as our Leadership Development Network. You can also access our Employee Resource Networks (ERNs), such as Business Women’s Network, Veteran Talent Resource Network, Professional Multicultural Network and Alliance (LGBT) and Working Parents that provide a stronger sense of community within the company and support our diversity goals and strategies.

These organizations provide unique insights into our culture and serve as a feedback mechanism to allow us to understand any challenges that employee members of these groups face while leveraging their backgrounds, experiences and creativity to ensure that we are raising the bar on inclusiveness of our culture. The ERNs also provide our employees with leadership and networking opportunities through their involvement in the planning and execution of ERN activities.

In Houston, Texas, we offer the Professional Multi-Cultural Network and the alliance@SE Network for LGBT employees and their allies. We offer other opportunities for employee involvement such as the Cross-Cultural Awareness Network in Eastern Canada and the Inclusion & Diversity Council in Western Canada.

We’re also proud to be recognized as a Military Friendly® Employer.

In keeping with Spectra Energy's charter and values, this statement of purpose outlines the company's commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities in which we live and conduct business.

Diversity embodies all the differences - life and work experiences, perspectives, cultures, race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, abilities, disabilities and other aspects of life - that make us unique individuals. Inclusion entails building an environment where employee differences are valued, employees are empowered and diverse Spectra Energy communities are connected across the enterprise.

Spectra Energy’s inclusive environment encourages all employees to contribute their perspectives and capabilities, and fully engages a diverse workforce in achieving superior business results. Inclusion builds trust to draw out each person's best performance and maximizes their capacity to achieve success.

Respect for the Individual

Respect for the individual is fundamental to building our high-performance team. All employees share the responsibility for creating a workplace that values and respects diversity and inclusion - enhanced by openness, sharing, trust, teamwork and involvement.

Win-Win Relationships

Win-Win relationships are essential to Spectra Energy's credibility with employees, customers, suppliers, and communities. We demonstrate inclusion in our procurement practices when we provide opportunities for diverse and small businesses to provide goods and services to the company.

Spectra Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
